Hi, I have a jonsered 7180 mower, it's second hand with no manual, it's been a brilliant tool until now, when I engage the mower the engine stalls. Looking for advice, maybe just due a service

If the engine stop dead like you have turned off the mower when you turn the blades on then you have an electrical problem.
If it stops dead like you kit a brick wall then you have a deck problem.
Slip the belt off the engine then try again.
Motor keeps on running then the deck needs a look at
Motor stops the same then the electrics need attention.
Not sure what a 7180 actually is so a photo or two would not go astray.

Thanks, I'll slip the belt off and try that, the revs drop then it dies. The mower belt moves by hand so figured it wasn't too tight. I've tried uploading pics but it says files are too big. ?

Pop your images into a photo app on your computer then resize them to 12" wide and change the resolution to 72 dpi.
Save in JPG format .
Some times just saving as a jpg will do the job.

Just an update,
I have got to the bottom of the problem.... The grass box sensor had failed, bipassed the sensor and the mower works a treat. Thank you for the advice given anyway.
