I am looking for an ignition coil for a 21" 6.5hp Craftsman Push mower. Model#917. 388571.
I have looked everywhere for one. I have had this push mower forever and it's just now messing up on. I have other mowers but they are for my business. This one I keep home and use. Please contact me if u have one or knows where one is.
Thanks!!

Need the engine Model, should be stamped on the metal blower housing either above the spark plug or muffler.

802574 Armature, Magneto, No boot included reuse old rubber boot if present

793353 Armature, Magneto, Metal boot

BTW that is a fairly young engine (2003) when to the 1963 I repaired last month.

Hey Star Tech! These 2 part#'s looks nothing like my ignition coil. What is having you say that they can be used on mine?

Briggs Dealer Power Portal engine look-up.

Those are the current versions of the coil. Your coil probably looks like this older style. Briggs recently changed the design and that why they look differently but Briggs Pwer Portal eParts is showing both the numbers I gave as the current version. The new versions are direct replacements. The main difference internally is that Briggs has gone to a surface mount circuit board.

Does this help clarify things?

Parts Tree shows:
Briggs & Stratton 802574
(Superseded to 590454)
802754 is one of the numbers star tech posted, and Briggs probably just changed the design of it, and superseded to a new #

Correct Scrubcadet10 on the supersede. I just didn't input the ePart SKU through my system here. Just not a part I have ever needed the OEM version here in my shop as I rarely see a walk behind any more but I do stock the Stens version. NOTE "B1" is an in-house prefix as I have nearly 800,000 SKU numbers on my system.
