I have a problem with a craftsman riding lawnmower. When you turn the key it does nothing not even a click from the selinoid. I thought it was the selinoid so I got another one and it still has the same issue. I thought I went thru the system and checked the safety switches on it but I must still be missing the real problem. Please help.

did you check the fuse. had one in the shop the other day that blew the 20 amp fuse because the headlight wires melted due to contact with muffler and fused the wires.

check your battery cables, make sure all connections are clean and tight and check the wire itself.

check that fuse! mine had a broken connection in the fuse holder and would turn on and off at random .......check continuity from your main hot lead [ the one with the fuse] to the battery hot tab on the ignition plug...then find continuity from solenoid lead [should be one small wire] to some where on ignition plug [just keep testing all of them] while all switches are open[which might mean depressing the clutch etc.].....if those appear ok check the ignition switch with continuity between your new found wires on the ignition switch while in start position [ you might need an extra hand on that one]...tell us how it goes!

After looking under the mower with the deck off, I discovered that there were two black wires that were hanging there. I pulled the battery box and battery out and found out that those wires went to the ground attatched to the frame and the wires had came out and broke off. They put a cheap eylet on it and that had broke. I fixed it with a new one and reconnected the wires. Put everything back together and turned the key------It Works------- Yay. But now I heard a clang and now the flywheel is broken. The gears are stripped on the flywheel and the starter. They used plastic instead of metal. So now on to the next thing.

Ain't that the truth. Hey I have a Murray like yours and I am having problems with the parking brake and the speed. It goes really slow then when I pull back on the brake it goes faster. Is there an adjustment for it? Thanks
