I hauled this out of my Dads yard. It is MTD model 213-430-062 and it says Lowes on it and is blue. It is a rear time tiller with a 5hp Briggs Stratton motor. I had to pull the tank to get the crud out of it and now I'm trying to figure out exactly how the governor and throttle were connected. It has the throttle cable under the tank and a governor spring which I never removed so the loop end is still hanging on the governor. The throttle cable has a slotted plastic end and is held on with a screw that when moved slides a part that when slid all the way contacts the kill wire but it doesn't have any connection to the top where the carb is other than a governor linkage that moves the throttle. So if someone has an old tiller like this maybe they can clear this up or send a pic, you can't even see the governor or the spring connection unless you remove the tank and carb, its tough to work in there cause its so tight. I will try to get some pics tonight. Before I brought it home I sprayed starting fluid in carb and it fired right up for a couple seconds so I know it will run once I get fuel to it but need to figure out these connections. I have searched hours online and some are similar but not exactly like mine.

Check the section on governors in this manual, it should help you reconnect your system. Post again if you have any other questions, but please make sure that you include engine numbers.

That is great, I'll check when I get off work and see if one of those is the same. The engine number is 135202 other numbers are 0237 and 01.

Thanks for the help I greatly appreciate it

I think I have it all figured out but the only thing I don't get is the throttle and how it is supposed to work. Here are a couple pics of it assembled but when I move the throttle from slow to fast it doesn't hardly move the throttle on the carb and it is open full throttle all the time. It springs open when you let go of it so I don't know. I will try to put some gas in tonight and see what it does. There is a top view of carb with manual choke and a pic of governor spring connected, the post the spring is connected to is the only spot for the spring to go and it was hanging from the governor already which is also the only spot for that end to go. There is no other linkage connections for the throttle at the top so this has to be it, only hole to connect anything from bottom to the top of carb is the spot where the governor rod is hooked.

As I used to tell my students, time to go back to school. Trying to explain how to adjust the governor on this forum is not easy. Please read all the sections in the manual which relate to your unit. It does a good job explaining how the carb and governor work, plus how to make adjustments. If you have specific questions after that please post back.
