Today was the first time using the HRX217VKA. I ran it on full bag, 3/4 bag, 1/2 bag, 1/4 bag, and full mulch.
Full bag: Does a great job. The pieces are really mulched up before they enter the bag. So you get more in the bag than you actually think.
Now 3/4 1/2 1/4 I used as rear discharge. I was chopping up leaves in my backyard. By the time I got to full mulch the pieces were almost like saw dust.
Full mulch was great. The mower never bogged down.
Due to the fact I have 3 large Elm trees in my back yard. After I mulched all the leaves, I had too much left on the ground. So I went back over with 1/2 bag 1/2 mulch. It left the perfect amount of mulch for the soil for this fall.
All in all I give the HRX217VKA a 9 out 10. The only reason I took away a point is the fact that they took away the ability to leave the mower running/disengaging the blade while emptying your bag. The blade stop is now a mower shutoff. But other than that, great mower.
