Motor threw parts out of the crankcase the other day on my Craftsman/Husky yard tractor, first I've ever experienced that, almost kinda fun tbh. Lots of smoke and oil. It's a Briggs I/C Platinum opposed twin. Model/type/code = 42e707 1831 a1 with date code 9706235A

Trying to figure out what newer motor to purchase that has the same bolt pattern and crankshaft length and spindle size

I'm not turning up much on searching after an hour or so at it, so joined here to see if I could get a point in the right direction. Would rather not toss/replace the tractor, I have lots of spares for the mowing deck.

Appreciate any pointers, thanks

Mike

Nearly all mounting bolt patterns are the same.
The main thing is crankshaft length, and diameter, and wiring.
You might can call/email Briggs with the model number and they can give you the specs, and another Briggs that might work.

Also look on eBay for some IC platinum engines.
