Hello I have a CV742 that is having issues starting. I have replaced the fuel pump thinking that was the issue. It will just crank when you try and turn it on, but if you spray carb cleaner in it, it will fire up. It will run fine till you turn it off. Then it is the same issue. My next step is pulling the carb of and cleaning it. Is there something else I should look at before? Thank you.

Sounds like you are headed in the right direction.

First make sure the choke is closing all the way since that can be an issue with starting sometimes. the next thing is to make sure that you have 12 volts at the fuel solenoid both during the run and start positions. There has been issues with key switches not providing 12 volts to the fuel solenoid in the start position.

I looks like the choke is opening and closing correctly. How does the linkage that is connected to the governor removed? If the solenoid wasn't getting 12volt would it continue to run after it has burnt off the carb cleaner? Thank you
