Engine replacement

I have a B&S 22 hp 407777-0146-B1 engine that I have to replace. In searching i find that a B&S 20 hp 40N877-0004 has the
same sump, alternator & regulator. If the sump is the same on both, according to part numbers, then the mounting bolt holes should line up. Is that correct? I realize that the HP will be different. Thanks for any help.

The truth is almost all engine sump mounting patterns are the same and it doesn't matter what brand of engine. Kohler, Kawasaki, Honda, and Briggs all use the same mounting holes.
