I mentioned this a long time ago about wanting to make a washable air filter for a B&S 14 to 17.5 hp engine. Well looks like K&N is now making them:

Kind of pricey but last time I bought an OEM disposable paper filter, it was $15. So I guess about two of these would pay for itself.

I installed one of these on my 21 hp B&S a couple of years ago. I usually wash it and re-oil it about 3 times a season. I create quite a dust bowel during the dry season and when mulching leaves in the fall:

Not much else to talk about as far as mowing is concerned. No measurable amount of rainfall in a month. It seems we are the only area in the country without any rain. The weird thing is we are above the yearly average from all the rain we got back in January and February.

I mulched my yard one month ago due to all the dried leaves that had fallen off my trees. My grass has not grown a bit since! Looks like I'll be mulching some more dried up leaves this weekend.

I never did get to test out my hot rod Murray. No mulching blades or cover. So every time my yard needed mowing, it really needed to be mulched. Bummer.

Those synthetic media Air filters require NO OIL, they are dry filters. K&N got the design thru AEM.

Which ones are you talking about? The ones colored red?

The UNIFILTER does require oil.

Yes the red ones. And if you can still find, AEM is still blue.
