hello, I have a 445 22hp fuel injected john deere. when mowing after 10 minutes or so it will start to die. It does not fully shut down jut stumbles really bad as if about to die. Worse when in deeper grass. If shut off deck revs back up and runs fine and if in thin grass does just fine. only happens when in thicker grass. not extremely thick. lawn is mowed weekly at least. so not like its even 4-5 inches tall. grass is actually kinda thin even. just started doing it recently have had mower for several years. acts like starving for fuel maybe? any thoughts appreciated.

Something to check is there is a small piece of rubber fuel line in the tank that goes from the electric pump to the tank outlet mounted on top. JD uses a non submersible fuel line that swells the outer rubber coating causing it to split and cause low fuel pressure. The replacement line in the parts diagram that JD uses is also not rated for being submerged.

If you decide to go the route of actually using the submersible rated fuel line that is available from auto parts stores, be aware the stuff is expensive. Comes in one foot length and cost in the neighborhood of $32-36. The other problem is you only need about 2-3 inches.

When is the last time you changed your fuel filter? If you've already eliminated that as an issue, then the next place I would go is the fuel line that ILENGINE is referencing.

In an extreme case, I had a customer who had issues with his engine bogging down, and we found one of his pushrods was bent. The engine was only running on one cylinder, and he didn't know it. Hopefully yours is just a fuel issue!
