tractor won't start

hi I have a Husqvarna yth 20-42 that won't start I've used clean gas I cleaned the plugs I've changed the fuel pump because the one it had wasn't working I replaced the carburetor.. it cranks good and only start for a second or two when I use starter fluid..it does not have a deck hooked up to it but I don't think that has anything to do with it..?? help pleaseeee johnny

fresh gas, fresh air, spark & compression are needed for start up.

it has all that I forgot to mention that the day before after replacing the carburetor it started just fine I let it run for about ten minutes then turned it off and the next day I tried and it just cranked ..starts now for a second or two with starter fluid ??

Check the cut off solenoid on the carb.
Check the wire is in all the way and if you have a 2 wire plug check that the ground wire is actually grounding.
You can go whole hog, pull it off & check it is opening when the key is on.
Over time the insulation at the plug pulls back & the wires short or break

thank you so so much it turned out the fuel solenoid wasn't getting power ..I had wired it wrong ..again thank you johnny

Excellent news.
The 2 pin plug is supposed to have a handed plug but as you have noticed, not particularly well done.
