Backside of string spool between string spool and outer spool.

Can you pull the bump know off with a pair of pliers?

You mean pull the bump knob off of its bolt? Why would I want to do that?

No..screw on the bump spring and see if you can pull it off!

This is what I have. Spring just slides into hole in spring spool. No threads.

What I am trying to tell you is that the screw threats on the shaft are stripped out causing the bump knpw to come off.

When operating the trimmer, the string spool rotates in the opposite direction that the bump knob screws into the shaft. Looks like that will always unscrew the bump knob and cause it to fly off.
