Hi,
First, I appreciate all the freely shared expertise and opinions.
Our JD LA 120 is pushing 300 hours, so we're considering selling it and getting something a little more capable. Here are our needs:
* mow 1 open acre of lawn around house
* rough mow and bag hardwood leaves from 4 acres among trees (this is currently "mowed" with a bush hog)
* rough mow 4 acres of field
* terrain is quite hilly, up to 25 degrees
* quality of cut is not a high priority
* needs to last a *long* time with low maintenance
From reading online, I like the ZTR mowers with a steering wheel, since they appear to be more controllable and safer on hills. I've found a couple used and would appreciate some input.
1. Cub Cadet Z-Force S48 - 48", 2011 model, ~500 hours, ZT2800 hydro, Kohler Courage SV715-3030 engine, 22 hp, 730 lb.
2. Exmark Quest QSS708GEM50200 - 50", 2015 model, ~250 hours, ZT2800 hydro, Exmark 708 engine, 713 lb.
The CC has larger tires and two fuel tanks.
The Exmark has a heavier frame: 10 ga. vs. 12 ga. The Exmark is $200 cheaper.
Thanks!
