I hit a root and now my mower is cutting low on the left side.

I have the same problem. Took it to two repair shops. Said it was a bent blade. Changed blade. Still does it. I talked to MTD, Troybilt. They claim no way it should be lower on left. But it is.

If you have been here since 2013 then you should know better than to tack another problem onto the bottom of an old dormant thread
So go put the dummy's cap on and stand in the naughty corner.

When you have done your penance pull the deck off
Use a marking pen on the end of the blade to trace the path of both blade tips around the deck
If they both trace the same line & that line is lower on one side then the deck is bent
If they trace different lines then the spindle or the blades are bent
If they trace a good circle wth no low spot check the spindle housing it will probably be cracked around one of the mounting bolts so when the belt goes tight the crack opens up and tilts the blade
