Original owner of a 1993 F series, replaced a seized motor a few years ago with a rebuilt that has run well until recently when it started surging.
The Walbro carb was gunked up but after cleaning it discovered the throttle shaft was wobbling as the shaft hole had worn. Replaced the carb with
the original carb from the blown motor. The original I had previously cleaned but had to replace the governor spring as it was stretched.
The mower runs but I can't get it to run smoothly at 3000-3200 rpm with the altitude screw, sounds like it is missing and the exhaust smell is terrible. The only way I'm able to get it to run smoothly is to adjust the governor to 3500 which, of course, is way too fast.
Any suggestions as to the cause or what should be checked next?
