I was told that the engine needs an over haul my tractor blows allot of white smoke told it is burning oil told that the ( block ?? ) of the engine has to be taken to a machine shop he says Like $3200 worth of work ..this is from a guy who knows how to work on diesels so I figured it'll be better and cheaper to get a used one..johnny

White smoke is unburned diesel fuel. You probably have an injector that needs rebuilt.

How many hours on the engine?

You can get a completely rebuilt engine with warranty for about $2500. The one I found was for a B7100.

But you probably don't need to replace your engine and doing so before you find the CAUSE of the symptoms you describe would be foolish. Injectors can be had for as low as $44 each; website lists OEM part number but that doesn't mean they are OEM. I doubt it, at that price.

the meter says 1079.5 but I got this tractor a year ago and not really sure those are right..I was thinking on dropping it off to a Kubota dealer not to far from me and see what they say I think that would be better . I mean this guy that said it needs to be over haul may not know what he's talking about .especially after what you said .what do you think ?? johnny

I think that would be a wise move. At 1,000 hours, that engine should not be worn out.

wow buddy thanks for that information I'm going to drop it off a near by Kubota dealer and find out what's really wrong with it ..i'm new with this kind of tractor and they're suppose to be good so that why I'm interested on getting a good engine for it and I did some reading and found out that the B7100 & B7001 are pretty much compatible ( parts are interchangeable ) anyway i'll be calling the dealer to set up an appointment ..hopefully you're right about the injectors being bad but if not and it does need to be over hauled its nice to know that I can pick up a ( rebuilt one ) with warrantee ..thanks so much buddy really appreciate it ..johnny
