Hello I am going to rebuild my 445 it has 700 hours an BURNS oil . everything look straight foreword two questions though. The kit I am looking at has .10 over pistons and rings My guess is ti disassemble and measure. Where do I get cylinder info on final size of bore ? Can I tell if my unit all ready has a steel cam gear ?
Thanks

Tear it apart first and see what’s worn. I’ve worked on numerous motors that burned oil and turned out to be a head gasket.

Just for a little thought. I just rebuilt a LA 45 engine. It was smoking white and blue smoke, I replaced the intake valve seals on both cylinders, rings on both cylinders, head gaskets, reseated the valves and did valve adjustment and this solved the problem.
One piston showed that the oil ring was passing oil.
Hope this may help you make a decision.

Surely you mean ".010" oversize pistons, not .100".

These pistons determine the final size of the bore.

But at 700 hours, you shouldn't need to bore the cylinders and install oversize pistons. All you probably need is a set of rings and maybe valve guides/seals.
