I have an ExMark Lazer Z with a Koehler CH 18-24 engine. This mower does get a work out with 15 acres to maintain . Right now I have noticed that there has been oil coming up thru the breather tube, to the carburetor. What is causing this? And is there anyway that I can stop it? I will note that the oil that is coming up is clean with no gas/oil mixture.I checked the sparkplugs and they were burning clean.

If the oil level is correct or low, it sounds like a bad head gasket. Run it for a few seconds with the valve covers off,
ypu should see the bad gasket easily...
But do it outside!!

Neighbor just told me that it could be a breather valve that acts like a pcv on a car.Is he right?

Yes, could be.
May also be high blowby past the piston from normal wear or just worn piston rings.
