The John Deere hoods are very poorly attached. You can lift the hood with one finger and it's only secured by two plastic half circles and you can then lift it off for service. I ran it into a bush and a limb of the bush entered one of the fins on the side of the hood and lifted it upward and tore the connections off. Also broke the wire to the headlights which later melted and blew the fuse. I suppose I'll have to purchase an entire new hood. This is a small 110 lawn mower and, no, speed and negligence were not factors.

Most smash repair shops can weld your old hood.
As will any bumper repair specialist or plastic welders.
However JD use a specific type of HDPE to mould their hoods from and you might have to buy a box of them as most plastic welders will not have them in stock.
I started doing this a while back and can almost make an acceptiable , although ugly repair.
