Hi folks, I can’t get my mower started for the season. I put a new fuel pump on because I didn’t think it was getting any gas. I took the hose off the fitting at the tank, and there is no gas at all in the hose, so I put it directly into the tank. I also took the fuel filter out and it’s STILL not getting any gas[/B]. ANY IDEAS?

Does the fuel pump and hose need to be primed full of fuel to get it to work, and if so, how would I accomplish that?
Thank you,
Dave

Not usually but the fuel pump only pumps a very small amount on each stroke of the engine.
So from scratch you need to crank for a while to get the fuel flowing.
The easy way to get fuel to fill the line is to cover the fuel filler with a rag and then blow into the fuel tank.
Forget about your auxillary fuel line.
If fuel can not come out of the normal outlet, then it is blocked and needs to be cleaned or the fuel line has collapsed & needs to be replaced.

The fuel pump has a small check valve in it so must be installed the right way round
