While mowing, the Snapper hydro control lever requires constant attention to maintain a constant forward speed or to adjust speed to changing grass conditions. I have to hold the hydro control lever for the entire mowing event. I have installed a better seat on this mower so the reach to the hydro control lever is rather long. Hours of mowing result in operator fatigue and a sore back. Do you think the hydro linkage has worn to the point that the lever will not stay in the set position? I have owned Bolens lawn tractor that used a foot-control pedal to adjust the hydro. Have any of you converted a Snapper LT140H38 ABV to foot control? Advise.

If you look at the transmission where the direction linkage attaches there may be a nut with a spring that sits in a slot that puts friction on the direction control swath lever. Adjust that nut and it should allow the controls to stay in one spot.
