HRX217HXA maga 1611616 transmission trouble. Mower will only jerkily move forward very slowly in the highest speed setting and has a grinding sound, not loud but present. The drive cable is in good shape both ends (all the cables are good). The drive belt belt is working correctly. All pulleys turn under the engines power. Wheels and drive dogs are working correctly. The drive cable has been adjusted to the maximum pull from a medium adjustment, with only the slightest of change.
There is no oil present on the output drive shafts of the transmission, could find no leaks. Only thing I can come up with is the transmission is worn out and has stopped working.
Does anyone with more experience with Honda's have any suggestions.
I believe the transmission is 200001-ve5-a00. There is a number cast into the bottom plate that is "ve5 hp-1b" but this could just be the bottom plate part number. These transmissions don't appear to be cheap and the mower might not be worth the effort if the transmission needs replacement.
Any help would be appreciated.
And if Robert from Honda is available, maybe he could verify the numbers and his opinion, reading over his posts he shows some good knowledge base.
