Hello all!

I am working on rebuilding a B&S 460707-2278-E1 opposed twin cylinder 20hp engine. Upon disassembly, I noticed that the camshaft is tweeked ever so slightly. I looked up the replacement part number, B&S P/N: 691161, which is no longer available. Will any camshafts from other (18 hp 19.5hp) B&S opposed cylinder engines work? There is a 691161 on eBay, but many other twin opposed options too.

Thanks in advance!

It has been awhile since I worked with those but I think the cam for the 46 series may have a slightly higher lift than some 42 series. Check IPLs for numbers. Cam will work but MAY have slightly lower hp not that you will notice. Cam different for full pressure lube so need to check.

Cam tweeked some?? Never heard of such a thing short of having thrown a rod. Better take a close look at cam bearing bosses for cracking.
