Hello, again. I was given a real nice 2004 Yard Machine model 13ah650f752.

I put in a new battery and it won't turn over. No clicking or anything. I get power to solenoid but no power out and also no power to the single wire to solenoid.

So, it must be a safety switch issue, correct? I believe there are 4. 1 at the seat, 1 at the deck engagement, 1 at the clutch, and 1 on the shifter?

Where should I start and how do I know if the switch is bad or not? I have a multi meter but have never used it to test switches.

I also checked the fuse next to solenoid and it is good.

Update. Using this great YouTube video, I was able to test the fuse, the pto switch, and the clutch switch. Both work as they should.

So, I'm now thinking it's the ignition switch since I'm not getting power to the single spade wire at the solenoid. Anyone agree?

Looking at the wiring diagram, does this mean I have 2 fuses? If so, where is the second one? One is right next to solenoid.

I found a good 6 pole switch that I know works and it made no difference. Would appreciate some help.

On the under side of the switch you will see some tiny letters.

Mower wiring 101
Power usually goes from the hot side of the starter solenoid .
1) through a fuse
2) the the B ( = battery) terminal on the ignition switch ( tiny numbers under the switch )
3) to S (= Start) terminal on the switch
4) the the PTO switch or PTO safety switch on manual PTO's
5) to the brake safety switch
6) to the trigger wire on the solenoid.
This is a daisy chain so a break anywhere = no cranking
If the solenoid has only 1 small wire then the ground is via the case which will benefit from a clean where it contacts the body of the mower to get a good contact.

The ignition control can either be on the key switch
M + G = off
or on the throttle plate.
follow the thin wire from the coil
This is a ground wire.
Ground = off
Open circuit = on

Thanks for the response. I'll give it another go this weekend. Have a couple other projects to finish up.

Ok. Update. Not getting any power to the pto switch. I have power to and from fuse. Have power at b and s (when turned to start) on switch. Cleaned ground for battery and solenoid.
