I have an old MTD-Yardman snow thrower that has a Tecumseh engine on it. The HMSK-100-159295W engine came stock with the 18-watt stator to power the 18-watt incandescent headlight.

I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade the 18-watt stator to the 10-amp stator found on some Tecumseh engines and if so what would be involved in doing so in addition to the stator and new flywheel?

Does anyone happen to have part numbers for the 10-amp stator and flywheel?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank to all.

Not sure what your aim is, but 18 watts would power a pretty decent set of LED lights.

The LED lights I am looking at are the Auxbeam and state they are rated at 18 watts each 36 watts total, I'd also like to put some heated hand grips on it if possible. So that is why I was looking to upgrade the stator to the 10 amp.

As Tecumseh engines are no longer manufactured anymore, I can’t find that the stator, voltage regulator and flywheel are available anymore. If they were the cost of these three components would be well over $250.00, which to most people would not be worth it. That doesn’t include labor.
