Picked up a John Deere JS46 self-propelled mower, rear drive. Made in around 2011, JD exited the walk-behind market shortly thereafter. Thus, parts becoming scarce. But it is a good unit & mine is in great shape. To be pre-emptive, I am thinking about trying to add grease to the transmission. It is sealed and supposedly "maintenance free." But if it fails, I am unlikely to find a replacement at a decent price. So, I was wondering about adding a zerk so that I can squirt some fresh grease from time to time. The tranny housing is plastic and I can find nothing online about inserting a zerk into plastic. But what if I inserted one & used red loctite to secure? Anybody had success with a zerk into plastic?
