Unless owners manual states otherwise...break-in is not a recommendation.

I took a quick glance at manual and there is no mention of a break-in period.

Download your manual and follow it till it is out of warranty for sure. If you do not follow the manual then the warranty will not be honored. It is listed under OM for operators Manual. I do not know what year you have so cannot give a direct link.

The manual says first change is 200 hrs and same there after That seems pretty extreme. Kenny

Manual says 50 hours or end of the season. Page 14 of the manual. 200 hours sounds like hydros.

Yep.
50 hours or end of first season
Change oil, oil filter
check the valve lash
Check every nut & bolt for tightness
Every new engine I fit get treated this was.
THe 50 hour service I give is a free ( in warranty ) service.
I also change the air filter plug
Customer only pays for parts.

Do NOT forget the early 8 hour oil & filter change. This was listed in my Kawasaki powered Toro Owners Manual. Then I go to once a year or not more than 50 hours per year, changing oil filter as well. .
