I have a old Yardman Riding mower that I need new drivebelts for. The Model # is 42A7072238E1. Every place I go online dont accept this #. And yes I could measure the old belts myself, but I think the last owner had this problem and put on too long of a belt and I dont want to make the same mistake.

The number in your post is the model number for the briggs engine. 42A707-2238-E1 the model number tag on MTD is normally under the seat, but can fade or come off so depending on condition may be unreadable. If the number is unreadable, post the code number following the model number on the engine along with any other information about the mower that you can provide like deck size, and sometimes the techs can pull a model number up with limited information.

Thanks for the quick response. The model # under the seat is 13A0675G141. The engine may or may not be origenal anyway.

Engine is original per MTD dealer parts site. The deck belt is 954-0371A drive belts are 954-0280A and 954-0370 for the engine variable, and from variable to transmission pulley.,

Thankyou so much for the #s. Im surprised about the engine because its such a tight fit in the engine compartment that its very difficult to replace air filter without removing hood assembly. So thanks for that info too.

One some of those older MTD mowers you had to remove the side cover and the hood, and grill to replace the air filter and to get to the oil filter and the oil drain plug, and the spark plugs.
