I have a craftsman snowblower and it is hard to start. it floods the engine out while starting every time. if I spray a little carb cleaner in the intake before starting it fires right up. it has done this pretty much since new. (probably about 5 years old now). I have tried new carbs every year, this year I added a new coil and checked the valve lash but it is still hard starting. other than not starting it run perfect. any ideas? I have checked for vacuum leaks and found none.

Have you tried starting COLD WITHOUT flipping the choke lever to "full choke"?

The choke is apparently working, just working TOO GOOD. Using carb spray is richening the mix but not to extent of flooding the engine...

Try to keep an eye on the actual choke butterfly during your testing. Try maybe two pulls 1/3 of the butterfly closed. If still no start, close a little more, etc.

From your description, it should kick with partial choke..
