I took the deck off my mower for the first time today getting it ready for winter duty. I am left with the PTO cable dangling. I put the end of the spring into a hole in the engine crossmember but there is still some slack. I then thought maybe I would remove the cable from the PTO handle end. But that doesn't seem like an easy thing to do. I can't even see the end that attaches to the handle. So what am I supposed to do with the cable? My owners manual does not help in this regard. The instructions end with remove the spring from the idler and remove the deck from the left side. Thanks for any assistance

Poke the spring up through the slot in the right mudguard for the PTO lever then slip one of the spring clips from the mounting pins through the end of the spring to prevent it falling out.
On some you can pull the entire spring through so it stays there.
