On a recent sharpening/balancing I could not find my balancer, so
I placed the blade across the shank of a phillips screwdriver as close to the center
of the drive opening as I could.
I believe the results were close enough for government work............

thank you i just saw a video of placing blade on edge of a ruler and eyeball balancing i will try both
