Hi All
Thanks for having this forum available!
I have a lt1050, Went to start and pushed brake and heard a pop? ignition wont fire
Is there some type of switch in brake pedal that engages the ignition to fire?
thanks!

:welcome:

Yes there is a switch.
Hopefully the pop you hear was the switch housing breaking, they are only plastic & do go hard over time.
Dial in your model number on any site that sells Cub parts & get a new switch, they are about the same price as a cup of good coffee.
Be careful if you decide to buy on line , lots of switches removed form the defective bin end up being sold on the web as "brand new" and "fits a LT1050"
If the add does not say it works then don't expect it to work.
Lots of switches all look the same.

Jacks, partstree , Cubparts all have exploded diagrams on their web site.
FWIW the cranking circuit goes a bit like this.

Mower wiring 101
Power usually goes from the hot side of the starter solenoid .
1) through a fuse
2) the the B ( = battery) terminal on the ignition switch ( tiny numbers under the switch )
3) to S (= Start) terminal on the switch
4) the the PTO switch or PTO safety switch on manual PTO's
5) to the brake safety switch
6) to the trigger wire on the solenoid.
This is a daisy chain so a break anywhere = no cranking
If the solenoid has only 1 small wire then the ground is via the case which will benefit from a clean where it contacts the body of the mower to get a good contact.

The ignition control is on the key switch
M + G = off
follow the thin wire from the coil
This is a ground wire.
Ground = off
Open circuit = on
