I can jump this mower and it will start, but it won't start on its own. I put a new battery in it and still have to jump it. It has me stumped. I have checked connections, cleaned battery posts, etc. Anybody have any ideas ? It doesn't make sense. The juice from the jumper goes through the same wires, etc. to start it as it uses when it will start on its own.

I'm assuming it turns over when using battery only, and doesn't fire?
Does it turn over slow?

No, it doesn't turn over at all. Only if I jump it. Just doesn't make sense.

Its almost got to be the cables or battery. Try disconnecting the battery and hooking the cables up to the jumper cables to eliminate the possibility that the starter is requiring way more amps than your battery is giving it and to ensure that the jumper battery is adequate. (Starter not requiring both batteries for enough amps to turn starter.) If you have a battery charger with a gauge (or just a gauge) check the amps on your battery. My bet is on a bad ground somewhere. Good luck. Gearjammer
