This carb was on a Hustler w/ Kaw that was brought into our shop because it would not run right......really?
It is on a Raptor that has no hr meter so can't say on the hours but probably had the original air filter.
This is an example as to why you install a NEW air filter every 50 hrs or once a season, and DON'T just blow it out with air!
All the dirt ingested in this engine has taken many hrs of life out of this engine!

The clear spot on the right is where I ran my finger up it to clean a spot for pic purpose!dirty carb.png

It didn't get that way from a dirty air filter. A damaged or improperly installed air filter, yes. But not one that is just dirty.

There is no bypass on an air filter. As the filter gets progressively dirtier, the engine may not run right because of a lack of air but the air filter will not admit dirty air to make up for the lack of flow.

Correct. A very dirty air filter will cause the engine to run like the choke is nearly closed.
