I enjoy helping people with broken mowers and have had plenty of 'business' over the last couple of years. Thought I'd check out your forum. Here's a fix I did recently on a mower that would not start unless I covered the intake to the carb with tape. And then it would surge as I covered and uncovered the intake with my hand. A new rubber o-ring is all that was needed.

Here's another similar fix. Mower was surging and leaking gas on top of tank. I put a hose clamp on the intake pipe to hold the white retaining ring in place along with the rubber o-ring behind the retaining ring. This stopped the gas leak and the surging.
