Performed first service today on Fastrak 54" rear discharge mower.
Here's some pictures underneath to show differences from Raptor and from side discharge.

Cannot get two of the pictures to show upright. Can a moderator flip them?

John,

Interesting how the rear of the deck opens up so nice and wide. Bet it is impossible almost to clog that rascal.

What is powering hydros? I see no belts.
I like rear opening and how much stronger hydros suspension is. Not just a L shaped bracket. Of course, you will have to check on thos bolts ever so often, knowing Hustler.
Bottom protection is also good.
I say you need better tires. You will have no traction on wet grass+wet clippings with those turf tires. I took mine off right away, mower was like Ginkana car. Drifting.

Traction is fine, even on wet crab grass clippings. There are only a couple of small slopes to deal with on my property. Weight is your friend. This mower weighs 860 pounds empty, most of the weight on the rear.

Good. Not for my Raptor. And I have HILLS. Plus wetland. Of course, my ATV lugs dig dirt, but I don't really care. Farmland.

So what is driving hydros?

The lower belt on the PTO clutch drives the mower.
If you look close up above the PTO clutch there is another pully/belt that drives the hydros.

Took the turfs off my Super Z because they were horrible and dangerous on our hills and it weighs 1600 lbs.
Replaced them with Chevron AT 101's bar tires and the difference is huge.
The same hills that were always a problem with the turfs are no problem at all now.

I have been told that using non-Hustler approved tires will void the warranty on the hydraulic drives. My mower is not used commercially, and my place is mostly flat.

Nice. I like those much better than my lugs. I looked and looked and looked and could not find anything better than what I have. I have set of Bazookas. They are pretty drastic on grass.
I told my dealer not so long ago I have ATV tires on mine. He didn't even twitch. Also, takes 20 minutes to swap them out for OEM turfs. I have them just in case.
