John Deere 112 starter

So what is the trick to getting a starter out of a 112 with the kohler 301 engine? I have tried many different wrench and socket/rachet combos but still cant get at the bolt towords the brush end of the starter. Only other thing I can think is pull the engine but that would be dumb to design something like that

Please provide us with the spec number for the engine. Kohler uses three different starters for 5he K301 engines.

The mower model is T0011 serial 250509, engine is a K301as, spec number 47433b with serial of 3163384

Is it possible for you to take a couple of pictures of your problem. That bolt should be easy to get at, unless JD had the engine mounted differently on your model.
