Well, you guys in the actual mower forum have been extremely helpful. I am hoping you can help me with some info on this snowblower I just picked up.
Craftsman II 5/23" Model#536.886520 Code#9228 (all on the snow blower decal)
Tecumseh Engine - 5hp?
Electric Start - 120-volt starter is marked with a #33290C part#)then says for H35, HS40-50 Then the starter is stamped with a number 18145 onto the metal plate
There are no Decals on the engine. I'm pretty sure it's a horizontal shaft
On top of the engine where the push button start is stamped into the metal 143804072SER9188B
It has a 10" impeller
I am not familiar with Tecumseh engines at all. I'm just trying to figure out what model it is because it needs a throttle cable and a muffler, plus some miscellaneous fasteners.
I can post pictures if you need me to.
I talked to Craftsman first and they told me this unit was not made for Craftsman but made for Sears. After jumping through 213 hoops I finally spoke to someone at Sears that could tell me the Manufacture Date is in sometime in 1999. Other than that, nothing else.
The machine runs great other than the throttle cable being broke and the muffler needing attention.
Any and all information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Link to an Owner's Manual may be asking too much.
Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you in advance!

Mine is older and probably a lot different. But the numbers are separated by a period, mine is, 535.886180 and engine is 143.978001. 8HP Tecumseh. Craftsman for sure. Might help when searching.

Tom I don’t understand what you are saying??? His numbers are posted in the first post and it makes no difference if you use the period or not.

Hey there. I know this is specific for the Tecumseh small engine. I am going to share some pics of the Snowblower and the number stamp I have. Maybe this will help eliminate any confusion. Thank you in advance. The last 2 pics show the number stamped into the engine. I had to take it in 2 because the starter cable was in the way.

Than you Russ and Rivets. If I missed someone Thank you too! I greatly appreciate it. In my 43 years of existence, it sure seems most of the time the simplest answer is also the most difficult. Thanks again. Have a really good afternoon!

Went to Google, input "craftsman parts", that took me to ereplacement parts.com (I have ordered parts from them before). Input 536.886520 and it pulled up all the diagrams for the snow blower, motor etc. Looking at the diagrams the "auger control cable" is part number 761589MA and costs $13.66. There is also a clutch cable. Inputting the part number 761589MA into Google takes me to many places including Amazon for $9.75. So far I have 90 seconds invested in the process.
