Hi there! Im a new member and a new owner of a Simplicity Tractor
It is a used mower and has been serviced at a dealer.

The deck drive belt recently came off. When I went to put it back on I found that the the Idler Pulley is not aligned with the other pulley wheels. The bottom of the idler pulley is at the same height as the top of the other pulleys. There seems to be no damage to the idler arm. Any idea of how I can fix this or if it is normal?
Thank you for your help

I attached photos and they seem to flip when they are added

Please give us the units model and serial numbers, both tractor and deck. They should begin with 169 or 296. To me it looks like you do not have the correct pulley on. To me one of those pulleys should be a flat idler pulley, not a V-idler pulley, but won’t know for sure until I have more info.

Rivets, I think you are talking about the chrome pulley.

How did you think of that? That's thinking out of the box!

That sounds right...that one should be a flat idler (possibly)

Amazing that it ever worked.

Unless it is a rear discharge deck with counter rotating blades & a double sided belt.
My first thoughs were along the same line then I had a look at the wear pattern on the pulleys.
All looked normal for a V belt.

That chrome pulley does look like a replacement...
But, even with that you would think they replaced with identical pulley.

We need those model and engine numbers
