Have lost 1st and 2nd gears pretty much and 3rd pops in and out as I mow. Took it apart seeing whats worn or broken and about all I see that might be the issue is the shift keys. My guess they hold transmission in the gear you select.

Shift keys are a normal wear item with peerless transaxles. The other thing to check closely is the gears that are slipping or not going into gear. The notches in those gears will get worn also and create a sloped edge that will push the keys out of the notch.

Thanks guys. I actually found a Scag walk behind minus the motor for $40 on CL. She's not very pretty though:laughing: Just gonna swap that trans in and put this one in the "to be fixed pile"
