48" riding mower...hoping to be able to do both at the same time to save time...from what i understand you can't go in reverse with the thatcher or you may break tines unless you disengage the sweeper...and if i only want to sweep i can just disengage the dethatcher without having to detach it and just sweep...the below dethatcher seems like the best option for what i'm trying to do...i like the ohio sweeper a lot but i'm wondering if i'm going overboard...

looking at this...$75

plus this...$300 (on mowers dierct)

Or you can try this.

Out of stock at Sears but it should be found somewhere.

thanks...that's interesting... didn't even know these were available...i typically have to deal with thatch, grass, leaves and small sticks...so if i had a front dethatcher engaged, the deck engaged with a bagger and a tow behind sweeper engaged i'm assuming most of the thatch, grass, leaves and maybe some sticks are going to go right into the bagger...not sure if the sweeper would even be needed...at the same time i don't dethatch but once or twice a season and i would probably use the sweeper in the spring once or twice and in the fall a bunch of times so i'm not sure i would want that dethatcher mounted to the front all season (even if disengaged) and i would rather not have to remove/reinstall it all the time...

on the opposite end if i had the deck engaged with a bagger and a sweeper engaged with a sweeper mounted dethatcher engaged i would think the bagger would still take most of the grass, leaves and some sticks and the sweeper would take the thatch and matted leaves and sticks...tough choice

I have the Agri- Fab 44" sweeper and the dethatcher, both work great together. I don't mow and dethatch at the sme time, but I do dethatch and sweep at the same time. Those u-bolts mount permanently on the square bar on front of the sweeper, 2 small pins and clips attach to the u-bolts, it takes less than a minute to install. When the hopper is full, there is a clip to raise the dethatcher off the ground, so you can travel to the dump area, it connects to the drawbar. This way, if you have travel across a driveway, it doesn't scratch it up. They designed these tools very well, mine is about 5 years old, and I never had a problem with either one.
