Hi all

I have been reading a lot of where people are buying new carbs and coils to try and get their trimmers going. The first thing you should do before anything, is check to see that the engine is good. To do this, remove the exhaust and see if you have "score" marks. Look at the piston through the exhaust port and see if you have any "barcodes" These are long lines from the top of the piston, down to the bottom skirt of the piston. If you have these, the engine needs to be rebuilt! If you dont, your engine is good. The most common missed check is the fuel supply. I will explain how a 2 stroke works first. From the gas cap to the spark plug, this is a pressurized system. if You have any air leak or a restriction, your engine will not work correctly or at all. Inside the fuel tank is a fuel filter. This is the most common thing that is over looked!! The fuel filters are designed to trip if water gets in them. With a hook on a piece of wire, fish out the fuel filter. Remove it off the line. These filters should be white. If they are tan, they have water in them. Replace them. You cant blow them out!! If you have a stihl Trimmer, the part number is 0000 350 3502, a chainsaw 0000 350 3504, Hedge trimmer 0000 350 3513 etc. For Husqvarna it is 503 44 32 01. Once you have a new fuel filter on, put a little fuel in the tank. tighten up the gas cap, and block the longer line. Fuel should come out of the short line right away!! carbs are only pressure control units, They actually do not pump the fuel from the tank. if you need further help, feel free to contact me.
