Changing fuel filter on John Deere LT-150

No problem changing out the fuel filter, but what the best way to stop the fuel flow when removing the filter from the fuel lines. Should a person loosen the fuel cap and or clamp the fuel line that come from the tank? The gas flows like Old Faithful!

Please advise.

Clamp it.

While you're at it, install a fuel shut off valve and you'll never have the problem again.

I thought about that but there isn't much hose coming from under the frame into the engine compartment. I will have to
see what gives. Thank you for your reply. Mucho appreciated!
