Has anyone ever come up with a suspension mod for a Troy Bilt 54" Bronco to soften the ride ?

I would think a suspension seat would help... it has always seemed like if you suspend the mower you run the risk of scalping as the suspension works. I have seen the ferris mowers... I constantly wonder how they manage it.

The Ferris mowers have linkage hooked to the suspension that lifts the deck through its travel..
As the mower goes down from hitting a bump the mower deck moves up the same amount.

Denna,

The suspension seat kit and a set of flex forks will make a remarkable difference in your ride. You wouldn't believe how much difference in my Hustler since those two items have been installed.

Here is two videos that you may want to check out. If they are a help, please subscribe, share, give a thumbs up and hit the notifications button to receive more on mower modifications to help you out.

Enjoy,

txzrider2, DK35vince and mhavanti,

Thanks for you responses.

I'm not sure the flex forks are appropriate for a non-zero turn with a mowing deck that doesn't automatically adjust its height.

I'd like to get an upgraded suspension seat, but I'm unsure as to the level of ride improvement between a mechanical ($150+) and air suspension seat ($500+).

Denna,

My apologies, I didn't catch that it is a rider. The anti scalp wheels help keep the deck floating. Most all rider deck will go upward, just not downward after setting the height.

There are suspension seats out there for riders such as in Tractor Supply Co. (TSC) and other farm supply and tractor supply stores. Catch them on sale however and you'll usually find them around $79.99.

Lower the tire pressure in your tires. It will make a world of difference. Do not forget to adjust your mower deck settings because it will lower the cutting height.
