This may apply to any mower so it might not be too difficult to answer. I have a wheel horse II, the other day it just dies suddenly It was a hot day and i had been mowing extensively. I tested the battery, it shows 11.6 volts, if i turn the lights on it drops right to zero. The tractor wont start either.

Your battery is shot and needs to be replaced. Before doing so check your charging system, to make sure it is producing at least 13 volts. If not you have bigger problems, so don’t replace battery until they are fixed.

Has above.....you should be looking for around 14volts if you are not getting any from the charging system there's the reason for the bad battery, has said above, check the changing system first. if that's comes up good, buy a new battery.
