sunrunner.jpgthis is a stock photo of the mower. bought it from the original owner and he said it was running. well it does run. the motor portion is fine. however, after starting and cutting for 5-10 minutes the hydrostatic drives begins to rapidly die. the drive will simply stop after a while.

the belt is turning the hydrostatic drive fine.

the fluid in the drive is full.

it seems that once the machine is fully warms up the drive fails. while it is running you can see that the drive wants to grab and begin to turn the spocket but it just cant do it.

all belts are turning and grabbing as they should near as I can tell.

any ideas as to the cause??

it cuts great while it runs, b.t.w. it will drive and engage as long as it is cold, once it warms up the drive quits.

That is classic worn out hydro symptoms.
Drain the hydro.
If it is a refillable type, flush the old oil then refill with a heavier grade of oil 20W 50 or 20W 60.
this might get a few more year out of it.
Double check the splines on the pulley but they usually go the other way, slip most when cold.
