I WAS CUTTING GRASS TODAY AND MOWER STARTED TO DRAG AND DINT'T WANT TO MOVE WITH BLADE ENGAGED! WENT AND PUT NEW BATTERY AND SPARK PLUG . LAWN TRACTOR WOULD RUN FIND NOW SETTING AT IDLE! WITHOUT ENGAGGED TRACTOR RUN ALMOST OKAY; BUT STILL NOT THE PROPER WAY. WHILE RUNING AT IDLE MOWER SIEZED UP! REMOVED COVER THAT ALLOWED ME TO SEE STARTER AND ENGINE. TIRED ROTATING ENGINE BY HAND; WOULD NOT ROTATE NOR WOULD STARTER TURN! WITH TURNING KEY STARTER STILL WOULD NOT TURN!! PLEASE HELP ME. PAID 425$ TWO WEAKS AGO FROM PRIVATE OWNER.................

First thing turn of the caps lock. Either the engine has locked up possibly from low oil. or something connected to the engine that may be preventing engine from turning. Locked up idler pulley on transmssion drive system, transmission locked up or something jammed drive belt preventing engine from turning.
Thanks for that!! The oil is find.I can get engine to rotate about 180 degrees(both directions with hand)then it stop! Then if you rotate engine back the other direction180 degrees then when turn with key it will move back to the stop point. This all started when I had tractor in the reverse gear and trying to get engine speed by work with carb. It made and cluke noisy and it hasn't worked since.

sounds bad...like a thrown rod..ouch!.....if you were closer id sell you one of my extra engines:frown:............pull the drive belt off or check to see its loose as you rotate engine....but i fear the worse

It could have droped a valve or thrown a connecting rod.

The same thing happened to me. It turned out to be bad piston rings. Had to replace the piston. Good luck
