Hello. I have had a STIHL BR200 for 1 year now. I noticed this starting to happen while doing a clients leaf cleanup, and I simply thought, "I will clean the spark arrestor later". I was using it to clean up my lawn, and it got really bad. I cleaned the spark arrestor, and I started it up. Same noise, now louder. I am worried it is an internal problem, but I have a 4 year warranty. Please let me know what is wrong! I have been using ethanol-free 50:1 mix ratio. I will do some further investigating.

I fixed the whirring, the fix was kind of silly. Turns out all I did to fix it was play with the idle screw, but this will be helpful in the future! Thanks a lot!
