Re: Crafteman Lifetime Tool Warranty

That set vs individual thing is what the less than pleasant guy at Kmart told me yesterday.
Just sounds like a convenient out to me..............

I'm gonna wait to see the quality (or lack thereof) of the ratchets I receive from Ace nest week
before deciding what to do with the rest of my ratchets whose quick releases have quit holding capabilities............

Au rivoir, mon Ami.

I THINK NAPA Auto parts carries Proto and other GOOD brands, don't know about their warranty though .. ??

What about Home DESPOT & Lousy's .. ?? .... :anyone:

Depot carries Husky, Stanley and Dewalt, also Greawrench (all 3 of which have or had a hand in Craftsman)
And Lowes main brand is Kobalt and a few KD tools.........

Husky= Crap and bad warranty
Stanley= Even worse than Husky
Dewalt = Black N Decker I hope I do not need to say anything here.

Gearwrench I have no idea about.
Kobalt are ok and have a great life time warranty on hand tools.

Kobalt's "Lifetime" warranty will probably go away if Lowes stops carrying them.
I don't KNOW that they will stop, but I suspect that too many warranty claims
will coax the same treatment as others have experienced with Craftsman.

Now that Lowes says "The New Home of Craftsman" I am betting Kolbalt will move stores.

I have my doubts, as Lowes owns Kobalt............
More like Lowes wants to be the sole retailer of Craftsman so they can end the brand.

Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

When "blasting" aluminum ya ALWAYS use plastic bead media .... fine, tiny plastic beads, and ya can't stay in 1 place too long, cause (depending on thickness,) the metal deforms from the heat ..I know well, I blasted parts almost every week, sometimes all day, we used "nut shells" on running jet engines to clean the compressor/"fan" blades PITA but does a nice job, those blades are different types of STEEL, alloys ....

Had some friends that flew helicopters over in the sandbox during the war and they said it really surprised them how the dust (sand) in the air cleaned the turbine blades on the birds. Didn't do much good for the main rotors or air filters thou.

The aluminum castings I need to clean up are just dirty....the engine had been in a forestry truck and things
got pretty well covered in clay-containing soil.
It shouldn't cause too much wear and tear on the metal regardless of what I use.

We'll see....

Now, for cleaning up some slightly rusted sockets, any recommendations?
We probably have some CLR and may try that.
I have seen better stuff out there............Like, maybe "Evapo-rust??"

Tester liked Krud Kutter..worked the best, but X-pensive !
