Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

Xmark update:
Worked on my blown intake manifold gasket this weekend. I received all the parts need to put her back together. I started by removing all the old gasket from everything. That was near impossible. I spent over 4 hours trying to remove everything. Finally got it all off but in doing so I noticed that everything was not flat. It was not warped from heat it was cast wrong. Where the intake manifold gasket broke it was 4/1000 off from to outer edge. That explains why it blew out. I then started checking all the services for flatness. I am sure I did not use the correct word for that but I am ok with it. Kawasaki quality pssssst. So I decked all the surfaces that were not flat and put it all back together until I got to the carb. It was getting dark and cold. When I get more time I will put the carb and radiator back on and start her back up. While I was in there I looked at the cylinder walls and I am going to start saving money for a new engine next year because this one is going to start burning oil soon. I am thinking it will not last another 200 hours. Kawasaki quality PSSSST.
So lets sum this all up. Parts that are not cast correctly and premature wear in the cylinder bore. That is on a very expensive engine said to be of the highest quality. I have never like Kawasaki engines mostly because of the high price for parts but now I have another reason to not like them.

YEP seen it B 4 no big deal, .. trouble with Chevy small blocks ( actually ALL chevy eng. ) they been around since Noah's Ark,.. there's so much info, ( good & bad ) its too confusing at times, research and patience is what pays off, IF.. I was to put an engine in a street car (truck) and wanted to have some more (tiger in the tank) than the average bear, I would just buy a ( crate-motor" ) all built, and forget all the hassles, but I did enjoy that schitt in my younger days, was fun to have a few guys tossin ideas back N forth, and everyone puttin a street machine together N helpin each other build their version of their desired result...

Too late for crate.......too deep into the build...
Pretty set on most stuff but cam and intake.
I gotta select stuff that will play nice together.............

I do want performance, but I still gotta drive the thing every now and then.

Re: MTD Yardman Transaxle Rebuild

Been busy tryin to finish up projects from summer, before it gets too cold to work outside, fixin front and back porch wood steps and painting, trimming and cuttin down a few trees, workin on the vehicles, gettin SOME lawn equipment ready for winter storage, purging out some things for wifeys yard-sale ( I just know I'm gonna THAT thing again...some day  ) pressure cleaning siding and front driveway apron, and a guzillion Honey-Do's .... I thought when ya retired ya sat around watchin TV or built ships in a bottle, lay-back and listen to good tunes on the stereo, I don't believe I worked a 40 hr. week, and got soooo much more done after work and on the week-ends ... what gives ...??? ....:confused3:..:confused2:
